Legitimate recruiters do not charge job seekers to apply for work.
Job hunting is difficult enough without having to work out whether the person offering you an opportunity is actually legitimate. One of the easiest warning signs to spot is money.
If someone asks you to pay to submit your CV, register as a candidate or be considered for a vacancy, be cautious.
In South Africa, recruitment agencies may not charge work seekers fees for employment services. APSO members are also required to follow a code of conduct that prohibits charging candidates for recruitment services.
That is because the recruitment company works on behalf of the employer. The employer pays the recruitment fee, not the person looking for work.
Unfortunately, job seekers are sometimes targeted by people pretending to be recruiters. They may ask for a registration fee, an application fee or payment in return for guaranteeing you a position. A legitimate recruiter will not ask you to pay for the chance to get a job.
If you are unsure about somebody who has contacted you, check the recruitment company’s official website, email addresses and contact details before sharing personal information or making any payment.
At OpenSource Intelligent Solutions, candidates are never charged to submit their CV, apply for a vacancy or be considered for an opportunity.
We believe recruitment should be straightforward: we find the right people for the right roles, and candidates are assessed on whether they are right for the job.
